Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit or buy from the OwnMelody online store, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

  • When you order: your name, email, shipping and billing address, phone number if you give one, and what you bought. Card details go straight to our payment processor. We never see or store them.
  • For your song and gift: your answers to our 5 questions (such as names, music genre, qualities, memories and your message), and the photos you upload.
  • When you browse: device type, browser, IP address and the pages you view, through cookies and similar tools.
  • When you contact us or sign up for email: your email address and whatever you choose to write.

How we use it

  • To create your song, make your gift, and email your listening link to you.
  • To take payment, pack your order and ship it.
  • To email you about your order, including confirmation and tracking.
  • To answer your questions and handle replacements and refunds.
  • To prevent fraud and keep the store secure.
  • To send marketing email, only if you opted in. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Your photos

We use the photos you upload only to make your order. We delete them after 90 days. When you upload a photo, you confirm that you have the right to use it. If you want a photo deleted sooner, email us.

Your song

Your song is private to you. We email you a link to your song's own listening page. Anyone who has the link can play it, and anyone who has your gift can press the button to hear it, so share them with people you trust.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers that help us run the store:

  • Shopify, which hosts the store and processes orders and payments.
  • Shipping carriers, to deliver your order.
  • Email and analytics providers, to send order emails and understand how the site is used.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights.

Cookies

Cookies keep your cart working and help us understand which pages are used. You can block them in your browser settings, but parts of the store, such as the cart, may stop working.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as we need them for accounting, tax and legal reasons. We keep photos for 90 days. We keep marketing contacts until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email support@ownmelody.com and we'll handle it. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.

Children

This store is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update this page.
