Terms of service

These terms apply to purchases from the OwnMelody online store. By placing an order, you agree to them.

What we sell

We sell personalized gifts that carry a personalized song, such as fridge magnets and crochet dolls. You answer 5 questions about someone you love. We write a song from your answers and load it onto your gift. The magnet and the crochet doll each have a built-in MP3 player. You press the button and the song plays. We also email you a link to your song's own listening page, so you can play and share it. Later, you can swap in any other song yourself: plug the gift into a computer with a USB-C cable and copy a new MP3 on.

Prices and payment

Prices are in US dollars. Taxes and duties are not included unless shown at checkout. We may change prices at any time. Changes never affect an order you have already placed.

Payment is taken at checkout through Shopify's payment services and the other methods shown there. We never see or store your full card details.

Your answers and photos

  • You are responsible for the details you give us, including names and spelling. Please check them before you order.
  • When you upload a photo, you confirm that you have the right to use it, and that it is fine for us to use it to make your order.
  • We use your photos only to make your order. We delete them after 90 days.
  • Please don't send content that is unlawful, hateful or abusive. We may refuse or cancel an order that includes it, and refund you in full.

Your song

We write your song from your answers within 3–5 business days of your order. We load it onto your gift, then make and ship it. A standard order has no preview and no free song changes.

Song Preview + 3 Revisions ($4.49)

This is an optional add-on. You tick it in the order quiz. If you add it:

  • We email you a preview of your song within 3–5 business days.
  • You can ask for up to 3 revisions. Each one takes 1–2 business days.
  • We make your gift only after you approve the song. This adds that time to your order.
  • Once you approve, the song is final. We can't make further changes to it.

The song is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use. You may keep it, play it, share it with family and friends, and post it on your personal social media. You may not sell it, use it in ads or for a business, or claim to be its creator for commercial purposes. We keep all other rights.

Orders

You can edit or cancel your own order within 24 hours of placing it by emailing support@ownmelody.com. We may cancel an order if a price was listed in error, we can't make the item, or the order appears fraudulent. If we do, we refund you in full.

Shipping

Shipping costs and delivery times are set out in our Shipping Policy. Delivery times are estimates, not guarantees. Risk of loss passes to you on delivery.

Returns and refunds

Personalized items can't be returned if you change your mind. Damaged, defective or wrong items are covered, including a player that doesn't work. Details are in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Our liability

We are responsible for supplying the product you ordered, as described. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published when you placed your order is the one that applies to it.
